As you must know, The Hobbit, by J.R.R Tolkien, will soon become a movie. This book, that was before the Lord of The Rings triology, will already have the participation of Ian McKellen (as Gandalf), Andy Serkins (as Smeagol) and - surprise, surprise - James McAvoy as Bilbo Baggins. If you saw Lord Of The Rings, you should probably remember the actor who played Bilbo Baggins, but who won’t be playing it again because of his advanced age. James McAvoy is being considered for the role, although for now it’s just a rumor.
Other curiosities about The Hobbit, it’s supposed to premiere in 2011, the director will be Guillermo Del Toro, instead of Peter Jackson, who will be the producer.
In my personal opinion, James McAvoy would be perfect for the role.
Hey! I know I haven’t written anything in a long time, I’ve just been busy with tests and everything these last weeks. I’m not looking forward to the result though :S I think I might have been a little lazy.
Well, that doesn’t matter now. I’m just going to focus on my long and peaceful vacations! I might go to New York this summer, and that’s going to be great! Can’t wait…
I’m also going to England (Cambridge - My sister diploma ceremony) and France, to the beach, which is actually kinda stupid, because Portugal has some really great beaches around here…but, oh well, it’s France, right?
Still, I think the best part of my holidays will be just laying on the sun, along with my favorite books, by the pool. Then, I’ll have all the time in the world to write, draw, make videos and watch movies! It’s great, just one more week and I’ll be in paradise!
She not only managed to make a historical film actually interesting for young people, she also mixed musics of popular artists of our days!
Kirsten Dunst in one of her best roles, at least in my opinion. The story of the film is very captivating and the costumes are beautiful!
The film tells the story of the Queen of France, Marie Antoinette, since the day she first moved in to Versaille from Austria until the day she and her husband had to leave the palace because of revolutions.
This is an original film because it gives us a vision of the good Marie Antoinette, not as a bad queen, but as an neglected wife and a fun woman.
It’s like 5:39 AM and I’m here writing a post on my blog. Why? Simple - I can’t sleep. So, instead of lying in my bed or just watching TV - wich I am also doing - I’ve decided to do something useful.
I was watching Happy Feet a while ago, personally I can’t believe I watched a animated musical about penguins for two hours, but the lack of sleep makes us do desperate things. I enjoyed it, but I kept thinking during the entire movie I new Mumble’s voice…and, in fact, I did. It was Elijah Wodd’s.
I really like him. The first time I saw him was in The Good Son and I loved him in that role, although I was just ten or something, and then I saw him again on Lord Of The Rings, and now I’m his official fan.
Instead of posting here another LOONG bio, I’ll just leave you a website http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000704/bio
He has amazing blue eyes! Really deep, and true. He’s still cute, although I think he should have kept his Frodo hair ;-)
Another thing…he’s 1,68m! He’s shorter than Dustin Hoffman! But still taller than me.
He’s currently dating Pamela Racine, a Gogol Bordello’s dancer.
Some people say he’s like a falling star - after the success of Lord Of The Rings, everyone thought he’d be a great movie star, but, honestly, if you compare him to Macaulay Culkin or Lindsay Lohan, you’d say he’s done pretty good so far. He’s a former child star who managed his career very well. Besise, he’s always in critically-aclaimed films, so he still is a movie star.
He will star on a Tim Burton’s animated film, borrowing his voice to one of the characters. His new film, The Oxford Murders, will be out soon too!xD
I can’t even say how much I loved this film! It amazed me the first time I saw it (even though I spend most of the time wanting to go to the bathroom - stupid coke addiction!) and It still surprises me now!
I mean…it’s a story about a barber and a baker who turn people into pies. Maybe people like a good canibalism story once in a while, I don’t know =P but this movie is so much more than that. The way the story is told, the actor’s performances, the musics, everyhting, make this movie something that will become a great classic! Not forget Tim Burton’s great work as a director!
The plot is this : Benjamin Barker, a young barber who lived with his wife Lucy and daughter Johanna, is send away by the evil Judge Turpin, who is in love with Lucy and tries to get her into marry him. She refuses and Turpin makes her go away too, but keeps the child, Johanna in a locked room in his house.
Fifteen years later, Benjamin Barker returns to London, under the name of Sweeney Todd, with a sailor, Anthony. There, he looks for Lucy and Johanna, and ends up at Mrs.Lovett pie shop, who tells him what happened to his family. Furious, Sweeney’s first thought is to murder the man who destroyed his family - Judge Turpin. Along with Mrs.Lovett, they begin a dark business that increases the success of the pie shop, for delight of the costumers…that didn’t knew, of course, that they were eating human meat!
OK, first of all, I LOOVE this band. Amy Lee It’s one of my top favourite musicians and the kind of music that Evanescence is fantastic. I’m a huge fan and I discovered this song, My Immortal, a few days ago, although It was released in 2003. I loved it, Amy Lee sings with so much emotion…just amazing!
Today I’m going to write about a character that I love - Éowyn. She’s a creation of J.R.R Tolkien and a participant on the Lord Of The Rings Triology. On the movie, she’s played by Mirando Otto.
She wasn’t a princess, but she was the niece to one King of Rohan. Éowyn is described to be very beautiful; she was tall, slim, pale, and graceful, with golden hair. In temperament she was idealistic, spirited, brave, high-minded, and lonely. She lost both her parents at a young age, so she and her brother were both raised in her uncle King Théoden’s household, like they’re own children. She then fell into a depression because, although she had the spirit of a warrior, she was confined to the traditional feminine roles. This depression got worse when Théoden’s mind was poisoned by Gríma and Éowyn was forced to stand and do nothing while Rohan failed around her. At the same time, Gríma was also stalking her. However, when Gandalf arrived he got Théoden away from Gríma’s corruption, and Éowyn became fell inlove with Aragorn. It soon became clear that Aragorn could not return her love and would not allow her to join his army.
But Éowun wouldn’t stay behind, so she disguised herself as a male rider and took Merry along with her. During the battle of the Pelennor Fields, she fought by King Théoden; when he was injured by the Lord of the Nazgûl, she and Merry scrambled to help him. When she confronted the Witch-king, he boasted that “no living man may hinder me,” referring to the 1,000-year-old prophecy by the Elf-lord Glorfindel, foretelling that the Witch-king would not “fall by the hand of man”. Éowyn then removed her helmet, exposing her long blond hair and declared:
“No living man am I! You look upon a woman.”
Éowyn slew the Witch-king after Merry stabbed him behind the knee. Merry’s stab made the Witch-king vulnerable while Éowyn’s thrust actually resulted in death. Upon striking the head Nazgûl, her sword shattered.
Éowyn was severely injured in this fight and believed to be dead until Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth realized she still lived. Because of the poisonous effect of the Black Breath of the Nazgûl and her hopeless love for Aragorn, she faced near-certain death and was brought up to the Houses of Healing together with Merry. However, she was treated in time by Aragorn, to whom she had earlier been strongly attracted. Since she was not yet completely recovered, she could not join Aragorn’s army for the Battle of the Black Gate. However, while recuperating in the Houses of Healing, she met Faramir, with whom she soon fell in love, understanding that her previous “love” for Aragorn was hero-worship rather than real love.
This had to be the first actress I would talk about. Since I saw her on Sweeney Todd, that I’ve considered her one of my favourite actresses.
Here’s a small bio:
Helena Bonham Carter, daughter of Raymond Bonham Carter, a merchant banker, and Elena Bonham Carter (née Propper de Callejón), a psychotherapist, was born in Golders Green, London, England on May 26, 1966 and is the youngest of three children.
After experiencing family dramas that included her father’s stroke-which left him wheelchair-bound-and attending South Hampstead High School and Westminster School in London, Bonham Carter devoted herself to an acting career. That trajectory actually began in 1979 when, at age 13, she entered a national poetry writing competition and used her second place winnings to place her photo in the casting directory “Spotlight.” She soon had her first agent and her first acting job, in a commercial, at age 16. She then landed a role in the made-for-TV movie A Pattern of Roses (1983) (TV), which subsequently led to her casting in the Merchant Ivory films A Room with a View (1985) and Lady Jane (1986), which was her first leading role.
Often referred to as the “corset queen” or “English rose” because of her early work, Bonham Carter has continued to surprise audiences with magnificent performances in a variety of roles from her more traditional corset-clad character in The Wings of the Dove (1997) and Shakespearian damsels to the dark and neurotic anti-heroines of Fight Club (1999) and many of Tim Burton’s films. Though consistently a versatile and engaging actress, Bonham Carter has never won a major American film award. However, she has received a number of critical awards and has been nominated for five Golden Globes, an Oscar, a SAG Award, and two Emmys.
Bonham Carter was nominated for a Golden Globe for the fifth time for her role in partner Tim Burton’s film adaptation of the Steven Sondheim musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), for which Burton and co-star Johnny Depp were also nominated. Since their meeting while filming Planet of the Apes (2001), Bonham Carter and Burton have made four movies together. They live in adjoining residences in London, sharing a connecting hallway, and have two children: Billy Ray Burton, 4, and Nell Burton, who was born December 15, 2007. Ironically, a mutual love of Sweeney Todd was part of the initial attraction for the pair. Despite that, Bonham Carter has said in numerous interviews that her audition process for the role of Mrs. Lovett was the most grueling of her career and that, ultimately, it was Sondheim who she had to convince that she was right for the role.
First, I just want to say that this is a very important film, not only because it’s wonderful, but also because it’s the first from the Johnny/Burton duo. They became really good friends after this film, so if you’re their fan, you MUST watch this!
It’s about a man who lives in a abandoned mannor and has scissors for hands. Next to the house, there’s a little suburbian town of the 1950’s, in wich husbands provide and the wifes stay home. One of this housewives(Peg) tries to sell beauty products, but nobody buys anything. Desesperate, she goes to the mannor to try sell something, and there she discovers Edward Scissorhands, a strange criature that she brings home. At first, everybody loves him. But then, things go terribly wrong…(what, I can’t say!)
At the same time, Edward falls in love with Peg’s teenage daughter, Kim. And that love is what will decide his fate.
It’s a wonderful story, that appears to be childish, but if you see the movie, is everything but! You can’t miss this movie, it will make you laugh and cry!
Stay Tuned for more suggestions,
Marga
